You OUGHT TO KNOW BETTER

The policeman was writing a ticket and the man he was writing it for was not very happy.  It was a driver’s license that had expired.  Then the policeman, Sgt. Ray Baarz of the Midvale, Utah, police department took it to the city judge and paid his five dollar fine

That’s right.  He had written the ticket to himself.

“How could I give a ticket to anyone else for an expired license in the future if I didn’t cite myself?”

While it may be carrying things a bit far, perhaps it should be a custom to have a funeral service when someone has let their conscience die.

And have all the family and friends of  the man or woman attend; and by so doing admit that since the conscience is now dead no one will be hearing from it anymore.  And, oh yes, the man, the former owner of the conscience should certainly also attend.

Check your conscience regularly to make sure it is improving what you are doing, saying and becoming.

Do not let your conscience get spiritual laryngitis.

If ever you should weep copiously it should be at the funeral of your conscience.

Be careful when you consider ignoring your conscience…that is God speaking.

Conscience

Conscience. The word is not found in the O.T. The chief passage in the N.T. is Rom. 2:14–15.

THE SPIRITUAL ABRAHAM LINCOLN
“A book superior in style and content)

A  Quote FROM Rev. Wyrick’s 9TH BOOK “THE SPIRITUAL ABRAHAM LINCOLN”

To mention Christianity today is to create a firestorm of complaint.  “We must assure separation of church and state” is the politically correct outcry.  Unfortunately, most who are straining their vocal chords, have not strained any intellectual efforts to research how the original quote actually reads.

When Thomas Jefferson dipped his pen and began to put down his thoughts, he wrote, “a wall of separation between Church and State.”  Even more interesting is the reason why it was written.  A group of less than joyous Baptists in Connecticut did not want to have their denomination play second fiddle to the Congregationalists.  The Congregationalists?  They would have been perfectly willing to be top dog as the state’s choice.  Episcopalians in Virginia were no less reluctant to create the same problem, if given half a chance.  Thomas Jefferson stuck by his guns in this state, as well.

Separation of church and state?  But should that mean separation of God and man?

QUOTES FROM
SIXTY PLUS AND NOT HOLDING
(Serialization of One of Neil’s book that can be found on his other blog Wyrick’s Writings)

I almost drowned once. It is a terrifying experience. One gets very used to breathing. I had taught swimming in summer camp. Passed the Red Cross Life Saving course. Water-skied 50 miles an hour. Now I found I could not even stand to have the water flow over my face when I took a shower.

So I had two choices. Give in to my fear or fight it.

I fought it. Stuck my head in a few inches of water in a basin for five seconds, then ten and finally a minute. I kept working on my private demon until one day, six month later, I was behind a ski boat with ski rope in hand. I was filled with panic, not just fear. I skied anyway. I fell and did not drown. I began to overcome the anxiety.

I refused to have a love affair with fear that could have become a permanent downer. Did I completely conquer my fear? No. Was I better off than if I had given in? Definitely.

----- ------ ---------- A number of years ago two scientists conducted an experiment with a sheep. They tied a piece of wire around the leg of a normal sheep in the midst of other sheep. Then at regular intervals they would send an electric shock through the wire making the leg twitch. The sheep’s behavior remained normal. He ate well, slept well, acted quite nicely, twitching appendage and all. Then the scientists added another factor.

They began to ring a bell ten seconds before they administered the shock. Within a very short period of time the sheep began to demonstrate all the symptoms of severe anxiety neurosis. His eating habits went from bad to worse. He couldn't sleep. He took to avoiding the other sheep. He became highly nervous and agitated.

It is the same with all the people who every day promise themselves it is going to be a bad day, and then work very hard at making their prophecy come true.
