C. K. Chesterton once wrote, “If seeds in the black earth can turn into such beautiful roses, what might the heart of man become in its long journey toward the stars.”

One of the best antidotes to depression, or down days, or bad hair days, call them what you will, is activity.

A dear friend of mine is slowly dying of congestive heart failure, but she is so busy talking to and helping another friend who is dying of cancer, and several others with multiple problems, that she has less time to worry about herself.

Depression takes time and effort, and reaching out to help others rather than reaching in to feel sorry for yourself really does work.

Saint Augustine put his finger on a solution when he wrote, ”You have made us for Yourself, O God, and our hearts are restless until they find rest in You.”

And follow the advice in Phillipians 4:6 “...in everything by prayer and supplication and thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.”  Indeed, take it a step further.  Thank God for His help even before you receive it.  Call it an advance on a paycheck you really believe is coming.

And seek an accepting spirit.

If  something is broke and you can’t fix it, stop worrying yourself to death as if worry were an answer.

Whether of the body or the spirit, if there is nothing that you can do about it... take one good long last look at the problem and file it away for good.  Trouble is, some people have pop up files.  They file their problem away and then keep going back to see if anything has changed – serving up a plate of rehashed worries over and over again

A  Quote FROM Rev. Wyrick’s 9TH BOOK “THE SPIRITUAL ABRAHAM LINCOLN”

He was named after his paternal granddaddy and Abraham, in the Bible.  Though the Biblical Abraham was certainly a leader, our Abe achieved leadership not because he was born to it, but because somewhere along the line he decided he would rather lead than be led.

His mother often rested the family Bible in her lap as she recited its stories to little Abe and his sister Sarah.  A younger brother Thomas died at birth.  With love and affection Lincoln said of her, “God bless my mother.  All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to her.”  He never stopped reading his Bible, which is why so many of his speeches were peppered with scripture.
