The children were not cooperating.

They just were not in the mood to put on their coats and gloves with any speed.

In fact, one of the children had gone back to her room to get something and seemed in no particular hurry to return. Those remaining were running around their mother in circles while they played a game of tag.

They would be late and the husband was fuming.

As he came down the stairs he looked at the chaos and said to his wife, “Honey, why are you just standing there? We are never going to get out of here.” 

 
She looked at him, got a special look on her face and replied, “Here, “ and handed him the children coats and gloves, “I’m giving you the privilege of putting the children into their coats while I go outside and honk on the horn.”

 
We can major in blindness and minor in understanding.


We can be frozen in one point of view.

We see things clearly from our own way of thinking and ignore where the other person is…whatever the problem…and though this story is a story of husband blindness, needless to say wives can suffer from the same malady and children toward their parents, and all human relationships really.

And yes, hopefully, reading this short story maybe some of the readers will see themselves…yesterday, last week, all the time…and get in their wife’s or husbands frame of reference…or that of a stranger or a friend…and…well, things can change and quite often they really need to…for it is such a grand old world when we think compassionately and lovingly and are less centered on ourselves.
