His name was Walter Edwin Peck. He was authority on the poet, Shelley, a college professor with a brilliant mind. Charming and witty, he had the world in the palm of his hand. But in 1954, the New York Tribune reported his death in a snowstorm on ski row.

Somewhere along the way, he zinged when he should have zinged. Somewhere along the way this Child of God, with a lifetime of promise, threw it all away for some moments of impulse.
Walter Edwin Peck came into this world like you and me, blue-eyed and innocent.

Stretched before him was a lifetime of decision, what he would learn, what he would do, what job he would choose and what he would believe in.

But, somewhere along the way, Walter Edwin Peck made the wrong decision just once too often.
Destiny is not a toy to be played with and the moral order of the Universe is not just an idle rule to be forgotten. Every time we make a decision we shape a life and when we shape a life we shape a destiny.

And …for some eternal reason when God made man He made man with hungers; hunger for food, hunger for sex, hunger for family, friends and security. But the greatest hunger he made was the hunger we have for God.

And if spiritually we chose to starve ourselves…then malnourished and stumbling we will fall.

And if we do not become another Walter Edwin Peck we still will never become what great potential was in us.

Let me close with this thought “God loves us the way we are, but too much to leave us that way.” (Leighton Ford)

Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. "
