And that's just
the beginning. For he has made man able
to do by the might of the mind God gave him so many unbelievable things.
"Oh, ye of little faith" and I
directed these words at the writer of the following on October 14,
1989, "The ordinary 'horseless
carriage' is at present a luxury for the wealthy; and although its price
will probably fall in the future,, it will never, of course, come into
as common use as the bicycle."
And
speaking of journeying, let us look at Moses.
There would have been no problem finding a host of people who would have
advised against the success of leading his people out of Egypt.
In short whether
secular or sacred...the impossible happens all the time.
And then
there is yet another story of impossibility becoming possible.
Jesus saw a thirty-eight year old man lying on
his mat at the pool of water at Bethesda and approached him asking, “Do you
wish to get well?” (John 5:5-6).
Christ then challenged
the man to do the impossible. “Get up!
Pick up your mat and walk.”
“And immediately the
man became well, and took up his pallet and began to walk” (v. 9).
When I type and the
fingers of my left hand race across the computer keys I can still hear the
doctors words 30 years ago.
"You're 54 years old.
You've crashed a hang glider and destroyed your left arm. You've driven the top of your broken off arm
down opposite your heart. Your arm is
paralyzed. If you were 24 years old I
would give you little hope. At 54 years
old..."
And I heard him and prayed "Thy will be done" and
though I understand the meaning of the word impossible I prayed and prayed some
more.
That arm can now in my 84th year hoist a suitcase and was able
again to toss a tennis ball into the air in preparation for a serve and...
And if that arm had
remained paralyzed...I would have prayed that I be healed of spiritual
paralysis...and thereby still be far ahead in the game of life.
No less an authority than Jesus himself made the following
comment on the word impossible ", “What is impossible with men is possible
with God.” Matthew 18:27
And think on this
as you consider the impossible become possible...that final trip to
heaven...that extension of life from the fact of death...
When it comes
to this impossible gift...a culmination of the words, "I go to prepare a
place for you that where I am you may be also."
Now there is a
miracle...except in the eyes of and from the hands of God no more than we can
and should expect.
"Whosever believeth in me shall not perish."
"When the perishable has been
clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying
that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”"

community of accountability we have to realize that like bikers we are divided
into two categories. Those who have fallen and those who will fall for anything. None of us are perfect.
