William Muldoon, the famous athletic trainer, once said, "People do not die of

disease, but of internal combustion."

William James continued in the same vein when he wrote, "Neither the nature nor the amount of our work is accountable for the frequency  and severity of our breakdowns.  But their cause lies rather in that absurd feeling of hurry and having no time, in breathlessness and tension and anxiety."

In short, is it possibly true that we all need, from time to time, to become as little

children again?  Does an inability to relax or recreate, to balance between job and jog,

make us a dull and exhausted member of the human race?

There are those who brag that they haven't taken a real vacation in twenty years and work twelve hours days.  Is that an echo of your work ethic?  Then remember that we

do not live by excessive labor alone.

You have a moral obligation to use the gift of time

wisely in a way that best benefits you and those around you.  And you have an obligation

to remember that just as religion feeds the soul, leisure gives the soul a chance to

remember it is hungry.

"Positive, powerful utterances...skillfully enhancing our understaning and appreciation of Lincoln...(Lt. Colonel C.A.Olsen (Ret.) Asbury College (Professor Ret.)

"Wyrick has authored a wonderful examination of the spirituality of one of American history's most devoutly religious leaders...a pleasant and readable book that has a rich depth of information.  (Maynard Pittendreigh, Presbyterian Minister)

"THE SPIRITUAL ABRAHAM LINCOLN is an extremely well written book...it is both scholarly and very readable.  I came away impressed at Mr. Wyrick's portrayal of that President with an altered and enlarged vision of the man. (William Hoffman, Award winning fiction writer, author of Blood and Guile, and Wild Thorn.)
