George Sterling was one of America’s greatest poets.

He had fame and friends.

At age 56, he committed suicide.

It was inevitable. His friend Upton Sinclair said of his thinking, “George believed the universe is running down like a clock, and in some millions of years the earth will be dead and cold. He often mused,” So what difference does it make what we poor insects do?”

Contrast that with the old country woman whose husband had died and whose sons had moved away.
Living 5 miles from town on a farm, she often told her neighbors, “

I guess I get lonesome now and then, but I always solve the problem by remembering I got Jesus.”

And there it is... taking hold of nothingness or the handle of faith.

Indeed, deny the Fatherhood of God, the love of Christ and the meaning behind creation and you’ll know a special and terrible loneliness the rest of your earthly days.
That little ole lady on the farm…not faithless but rather her faith an oasis.
She had completely cast her lot with God and the angels and wore the comforting of it well.

“Faith is like radar that sees through the fog.”Corrie Ten Boom

John 14:27
I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn't fragile like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid. (From the Living Bible)

Mahatma Ghandi put it well when he said “An eye for an eye would make the whole world blind.”
