Why would God
create man and not want to communicate with him?
He wouldn't and he didn't and so the first conversations took place with the first man Adam.
PRAYER MAKES SENSE
Sometimes God speaks to us through other people. Sometimes in a sermon from the pulpit, or a not so chance comment from a
friend or when overwhelmed by starlight we forget man light for a bit and turn
outward from our soul toward God.
And yes...God is a multi-linguist. Remember that anytime a
prejudice comes to visit and tries to take over.
Because prayer makes sense it makes sense to make the practice more
than an occasional.
Indeed! Remember and remind and write the word "constant" in
front of your prayer life file...for we all have a
prayer files...it is just that some files are more filled than others...and, of
course, there are tragically those files that are never filled at all.
PRAYER MAKES SENSE
I saw it on a large church bulletin
board. It is worth repeating.
If the request is wrong, God says, "No."
If the timing is wrong, God says, "Slow."
If you are wrong, God says, "Grow."
But if the request is right, the timing is right and you are right, God says, "Go!"
If the timing is wrong, God says, "Slow."
If you are wrong, God says, "Grow."
But if the request is right, the timing is right and you are right, God says, "Go!"
The power of prayer. That is the bottom line. We are short on
staying power because we are sometimes short on praying power. Our days are so full and our number and
length of prayers so near empty.
PRAYER
MAKES SENSE
"Knee work" that's what Spurgeon called it. I call it patella persuasion. No matter what you call it. God sometimes
does say "No, Slow, and Grow" he also
sometimes says "Go for it because I am
with you and I have heard your prayer and my response is positive."
When you have a problem what is your
response? Do you say, "Well, the
least I can do is pray?" or "The most and best I can do is
pray."
When you pray..
GO FOR IT...GIVE IT YOUR ALL...be not overcome by a weak and tepid attempt.
In short...ask for help and God will
sometimes push you toward and even beyond your best.
PRAYER MAKES SENSE
Just remember...you
may not always get what you want because God is busy giving you what you need.
"God hears
no more than the heart speaks; and if the heart be dumb, God will certainly be
deaf" wrote Thomas Brooks. God is certainly capable of mind reading but he prefers
you and I to fill in the blanks to the best of our ability. To think a thing through. To filter decisions through what is right and
wrong.
PRAYER MAKES SENSE.
It is not how
we discuss our burdens with God or plead for our needs. It is that we are doing it. Being proactive. Admitting by act of prayer
that prayer is unique in its simplicity.
And think on
all the times God has answered prayer in ways you have not figured or
understood that He has just answered your prayers.

Think on all the
sins that have died....slain by the hand of a forgiving God.
Think of all
the problems solved because they never became problems that would have been
caused by the sin that never found life.

than your God and mine.

Everything
that happened in the war was not of blood and pain and hate. The best in man sometimes rises out of the
worst. More than likely the story of
what happened one cold day during the terrible battle of Fredericksburg reached
Abe’s ears and pleased the heart of this forgiving President. It was a dreadful battle that cried out for
some miraculous act of empathy.
A
Sergeant Richard Kirkland of Company E Carolina Regiment made a request of his
commanding officer that was almost denied.
He had looked too long at the tortured, twisted dead and dying men and
could finally stand it no more. He
sought startling permission to take water and aid to those dressed in both Blue
and Gray.
“You
may get a bullet in the back of your head, son,” he was told. The soldier replied that he wanted to go
anyway.
“May God protect you,” said Major General J.
B. Kershaw. A short time later, men on
both sides of this field of agony and despair, watched in awe as the young man vaulted
over a bloodstained stonewall and walked unarmed and seemingly unafraid among
the dead and dying. They saw him kneel
down and cradle a fallen Union soldier in his arms, offer him a drink of water,
rest his head on his knapsack and cover him with his own overcoat. And then move to another soldier nearby. This time it was a Confederate soldier.
Again
and again throughout that long, pale December afternoon, just eleven days
before Christmas, Sergeant Kirkland returned with water until every living
soldier, from both the North and the South, had felt his compassion and
concern.
General Kershaw later wrote that not one
shot was fired during that time. That
never had he heard such silent respect.

this monumental day.”
