In Charles Darwin’s book, “Life and Letters” he tells of how in his younger days he loved music, art and literature.
He goes on to say he had a real talent for them and derived great delight in their pursuit.
But then he says, “Because of my one sided concentration on scientific calculations, I reached the point where I could not endure to read a line of poetry, where even Shakespeare became nauseatingly dull.
If I had my life to live over again, I would make it a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once each week…just to keep the faculty alive.”
If you do not use it you loose it.
If you were to tie your arm to your side and not use it for too long a time it would atrophy and become useless.
If you sat all day…day after day…and never rose from your chair one day you would not be able to rise from that chair.
The same is true of your memory and your mind and the exercising of your soul.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
