Earlier in the 20th century the North Sea went on a rampage. It’s flood waters threatened the lives of thousands.

It was during this time that an American Airman, 22 year old Rais Laming, volunteered for relief work.

Using a rubber raft
, he waded in neck deep water to rescue a total of 27 Britons and Americans.

Later, in Kingston England, an official giving him an award, described what he did as an incredible unbelievable act of heroism.

Because…

You see…

He couldn’t swim.

I never see a ship in a harbor without thinking that it was
not made for docking but for sailing.
And so it is with you and me.

We were made for doing and risking whether it is taking an emotional risk or a mental risk or a commitment so big to God it is a spiritual risk.

Courage is not always a shout. Sometimes it is the quiet perseverance of trying something you failed at once again.

"This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. " Joshua 1:9 (New Living Translation)
