This really happened. It was a number of years ago but it really happened.
An evangelist was visiting a manufacturing plant where he would be holding a short devotional service at lunch time (this used to happen more often). It would be a short service but the company and certainly the preacher felt it was good for those who would attend.
As he walked through the plant the Superintendent pointed to one man said, “He definitely won’t be attending. He’s an antitheist.”
So…the preacher walked over to the man and the first words out of his mouth were, “We’ve got a lot to be thankful.”
Before the man was able to reply the preacher continued.
“Look at this way. God really does know what he is doing. Take your nose for example. If anyone else but God had made it, he might have put it on upside down. Then when it rained you’d drown. Or if you didn’t drown… when you sneezed you’d blow your head off.”
The preacher then turned on his heels and walked away.
The poor fellow was in such a state of shock he decided to go the lunch time service to see what else that crazy preacher had to say.
To make a long story short, he was eventually converted to Christ.
And…yes…you never know what doors a sense of humor will open up.
Think about it…maybe celebrate a Holy Humor Sunday.
Grin for God week to show the world how Christians really are happy in a new and special way.
The thought is Biblical you know. Remember that when the Jews came back from captivity in Babylon the following took place “Then we were filled with laughter, and we sang happy sons. Then the other nations said, “The Lord has done great things for them.” Psalms 126:2
