      We must not run away from this fact, the ultimate reality of who Jesus was.  That He was God…emphasis on God, and that He was man…emphasis on man.  For, indeed, He was both.  Otherwise, it is all meaningless.  If He did not truly suffer, then the cross is pointless.  If He did not truly die as men do and then rise from the dead, our talk of the tomb and resurrection is as nothing.  If He did not feel the pain of rejection and become depressed by it, as do we when we are rejected, then what is it all about?

Thomas Paine, during our country’s Revolutionary War, spoke to the soldiers in the cold of Valley Forge, sought to challenge them to be their best, called out to them to be more than “sunshine soldiers and summer patriots.”

And that is what we are called to avoid, to avoid becoming spiritual sunshine soldier and spiritual summer patriots.

To be Christian Revolutionaries who can endure the cold shoulders of disagreement.

Christian Revolutionaries who can endure and endure and endure for victory goes to those who do not grovel.

Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed. Proverbs 16: 3
