IS MY FATHER ON DECK AND IN CONTROL?

The wind was howling, the waves monstrous, the ship seemed on the edge of capsizing. Chairs, tables and anything not tied down were tumbling all about. Many passengers had gotten dressed and were huddled in fear in a corner of the ballroom, but not the Captain’s daughter, not her.

While all around her was chaos, she asked one simple question, “Is my father on deck and in control?” When told the answer was, “Yes,” she calmly went back to sleep and slept the whole night through.

That is the secret to finding the peace that passeth understanding though the world is falling apart all around us.

When we accept our Father, our God, our Jesus as our Savior we become no longer mere mortals stumbling along between sunshine days and cloudy days.

Not up one day and down another.

Rather, in sickness and in health, when we give our all to God, He makes us what we cannot become in any other way. I’m talking about faith as a force. It was our scripture for the morning, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:14
