And those who lived there lived under that
cloud of nothingness. Any and all
improvements ceased. Nothing was
painted...many even stopped sweeping the sidewalks in the front of their
stores...why repair something that was on the verge of being destroyed...and
then one day an old local philosopher summed it all up well "Where there
is no faith in the future there is no power in the present."
WHAT IS AN IT?
In the process of answering the question
the following characteristics hopefully do not describe you.. because an IT is dedicated to the art of
drift.
An IT is a constant mimic...a compilation of all of the at- the-
moment accepted attitude and ideas... a moral, ethical, spiritual chameleon...
An IT is not necessarily sad or happy...an
IT is just an IT.
An IT does not stand steady in an
unsteady world...
The ITS of the world act as if they live in a town that is about to
be destroyed...
So yes...I hope and
pray that you are not an IT and that you prove it every day you pray a prayer
that is filled with hope and live a life that is filled with dreams.
That you allow yourself to be goaded by
God to live a life of betterment.
To settle for nothing less than a moral more.
An elderly
lady once went to a branch office in her town to buy stamps just before
Christmas and the lines, like any festive occasions, were particularly long.
A kind bystander pointed to her that there was no need to wait in line because there was a stamp machine in the lobby. She thanked the stranger and said, “I know, but the machine won’t ask me about my arthritis.?
An IT does not ask little old ladies
about their arthritis...an IT is self centered and selfish...an IT is an IT daily living up to it's
reputation.
Albert Schweitzer said it, “The tragedy of
life is what dies inside a man while he lives
So...don't be a fence sitter or a fence
leaner...stand on your own two feet...
Before World War II, Nora Waln wrote a
book exposing Hitler and his Nazi plotters.
The book, Reaching for the Stars, was
intercepted in the German mails on its way to an American publisher. She fled to London, rewrote the book from
memory and sent copies to Heinrich Himmler, the Nazi hangman. He took vengeance by imprisoning several of
her anti-Nazi friends.
Miss Waln went back to Germany in 1939 and
offered her life for the freedom of these friends.
Himmler offered to empty a whole prison
if she would rewrite the book to make Hitler appear good. In refusing, she
said, “I am willing to forfeit my life, but not my beliefs!”
Billy Graham used to tell a story of a professing Christian who got
a job in a lumber camp that had the reputation of being very ungodly. When a
friend heard that he had been hired, he said to him, “If those lumberjacks ever
find out you’re a Christian, your going to be in for a very hard time!” The man
responded, “I know it, but I really need the job.” After he had been working at
the camp for a year, he met the friend who had predicted the ridicule and
persecution he would receive from the other lumberjacks. “Well, how did it go?”
he asked the friend. “Did they give you a hard time?” “Oh no, not at all,” the
man replied. “They didn’t give me a bit of trouble---they never found out that
I was a Christian!”
Oh yes...what was that question...WHAT
