Imagine yourself driving on the Palmetto Expressway. There has just
been an accident, and as you approach the wreck you see a woman lying in the
lane closest to the shoulder.
She has just been thrown from her car and is crumpled in an
unconscious heap. What would you
do?
Well, a few years ago, the Washington Post reported the following:
There had been a wreck and a woman was
laying in the lane closest to the shoulder but no one was stopping. Instead, they slowed down just enough to
drive around her and keep on going.
They were, after all, in a hurry and they didn’t want to be late
for wherever it was they were headed to.
Or, they just didn’t want to get involved. And besides, someone else would stop. Just not them.
Finally, someone did inconvenience
themselves and then spent the next five minutes trying to get someone else to
stop who had a cell phone so that 911 could be called.
The
classic question has to be asked - how many of those who did not stop would
claim to be Christians? You see, love
can exist without religion, but religion cannot exist without love.
Know, and never forget, that “The wind of God is always blowing,
but you must hoist your sail.”
