CAN GOD SMILE?  CAN GOD CRY?

Plus recent other additions Christianity by Reflex, Stretching your Soul, The Galilee Gallery etc.

What do you want from Jesus, this God-man who lived in a space of geography called Galilee and died outside a city called Jerusalem?  What is it you want from this Christ who shed his blood and gave his body for your sins, and then rose from a tomb to prove that life after death is not a dream?

I hope you want Him to make you a better person, because I have to live with you and you have to live with yourself.  It may be sometimes true that the surly bird also gets the worm, but I trust you have not prayed to be one.

I pray you want Him to make the church you attend a place where love is king and you are a guard at the door who fights to keep all pettiness, anger and prejudice from entering herein.

I trust you want to have your sense of gratitude increase daily so that you say thank you more often than you complain.

I believe that you want to be whole, having no doubts, in that area that counts the most, your immortal soul.

Remember it is what Jesus asked of the man with the crippled legs, “Do you want to get well?”  In other words, do you want to be whole?”  Not “Do you want to walk again?”  That was obvious.  Otherwise, why would he have come to the pool of Bethesda?  The place where it was said if you entered the water after an angel rippled it you would be healed.

You see, Jesus knew that while the healing of the legs was important, the healing of his soul was even more so.  Put it this way - heal just a man’s legs, and not his soul, and his legs can straightway get him in more trouble than he could ever have gotten in when he couldn’t walk.

A man who had once claimed Christ, and then through bitterness had left the church and his faith, was asked by a friend, “What do you miss the most?”  The reply was instant, “I miss the trumpets in the morning.”

I know you want Gabriel’s bugle blast, and more than once in your daily living.

So fall often to your knees that you may more often stand tall in your soul.

               THE SPIRITUAL ABRAHAM LINCOLN

“A book superior in style and content.”

Quote from book below

When ole Abe swore on the Bible to uphold the Constitution, the faith he brought with him helped him to honestly support the five references to God found in The Declaration of Independence: supreme Lawmaker, Creator, Source of certain unalienable rights, world’s supreme Judge, and Protector on whom we can rely.  It is not that an aetheist or agnostic could not pay lip service to these, it is just that an obvious lack of enthusiasm would make its mark.
