MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DON’T FORGET

" ONE LINERS FOR YOUR SOUL" & ONE A DAY

Take these seeds of thought below and turn THEM into a wisdom tree.
Is it possibly true that we all need, from time to time, to become as little

children again?  Does an inability to relax or recreate, to balance between job and jog,

make us a dull and exhausted member of the human race?

There are those who brag that they haven't taken a real vacation in twenty years

and work twelve hours days.  Is that an echo of your work ethic?  Then remember that we

do not live by excessive labor alone.  You have a moral obligation to use the gift of time

wisely in a way that best benefits you and those around you.  And you have an obligation to remember that just as religion feeds the soul, leisure gives the soul a chance to remember it is hungry.

There is a story told about two little boys who were walking home from school one day.

One little boy turned to the other and said, “What do you think of this devil business?” “Well,” replied the other little boy, “you know how Santa Claus turned out…it’s either your mother or your dad.”

Well, mom or dad or grandpa or grandma…your children or grandchildren are watching…and you are influencing them by what they see and
what they hear you say…what you stand for…what you stand against.

They hear you pray or they hear you curse…or both.

They have learned what means most to you in life and what has no meaning for you at all.

They have learned whether you are honest or whether you are not.

It has been over 50 years and I still remember a young person at a Youth Camp where I was speaking. He came up to me with anguish written all over his face. “Pastor,” he said, “I heard you talk about how we all set examples for each other and as you spoke I thought about my parents. I have no respect for them. I only pray that I will not grow up to be like them.”

And then there was another young person who spoke to me one day and all he had to say about his parents and in this grandparents as well…well…it was good…very very good.

Proverbs 22:6 “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
