Philippians 4:6-9,

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me -- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."

              Some call the book of Phillipians the book of Joy, others the path to peace.

       It deserves either title because the peace it speaks of is beyond Psychology...a subject I loved in my college days. 

       And have utilized in my ministry...

       always realizing that once one understands all the chapter headings and the natural sensible psychological application...none of it can match the supernatural power of the presence of the Holy Spirit taking over a human’s soul.

       Let go...let God...is the most powerful common sense, heaven-inspired statement I believe has ever been made.

       "I'm going to live in heaven for the rest of my life."  At 84, that phrase has a dimension that it didn't quite have when I was 54, and even less so when I was 24.  Yet in the midst of this chaotic world, I find a great peace in seeing everything against a backdrop of eternity.

       I try to live by Christian standards.  I believe that the stabilizing effect of these standards has given me a peace I would not otherwise have.

       The unrepentant sinner sins and cares not and becomes nothing more than a selfish, greedy animal...no better than a wild animal in the woods...and there is no peace in that.

       Pray up..cool down.  When things get rough, I take it to the Lord in prayer...but then it comes naturally because I am an habitual prayer.  It works that way...what we do often...we do more easily.

       Would you imagine something for me?  I want  you to imagine you have an empty bottle in your hand.  Now ask yourself how you can get the air out of that bottle.

       You can't suck it out.  You can't turn the bottle upside down and pour the air out.  The only thing you can do to get the air out is to fill the bottle with something else.

       So, if our bottle of life is filled with that which we know we would be better without; all those negative thoughts and deeds, it is up to us to work at our faith and thereby fill our bottle of life with deeper prayers and better deeds. 

       Then slowly but surely we will become a better man and woman...and we wonder why we waited so long.

       And when this happens...I think the angels in heaven sing.

It may be easier being someone's shadow but wouldn't you really rather be a sun.
