In a song that Whitney Houston sings are some intriguing words and thoughts

“Everyone is searching for a hero.  People need someone to look up to and I have never found any heroes in my life.  It is a lonely place to be having to depend just on me.  But I decided long ago to be my own hero, to live as I believe.” (paraphrase)

How sad.  And how many could or would sing that song and feel it and have experienced it?

And if all those people looking for heroes met you or me, what would they find?  How many heroic actions and words defencing a cause or their faith.  Watched you or me in our daily deeds.  Found a hero?

It isn’t easy.

Temptation is a Goliath and we often don’t feel or act like a David.

Nevertheless, the book of Ephesians (6:11) spells out what we can do, what we must do. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world.
