To say that George Muller was an unusual man was an understatement. Like many of his contemporaries he would speak of faith that could move mountains but what made him different was how he placed his whole life and future behind these words.

And what did he do that was so different many people considered him quite mad.

He founded an orphanage and never had a fund raising campaign.

Never wrote a letter asking for money.

Never did what everyone else always did.

Never did anything but pray.

And yes…you have guessed it…

Miracle followed miracle followed by yet another miracle.

And when other orphanages would chide him for how he ran the orphanage and its finances he would always reply, “You and your kids just live from hand to mouth. As for us it is our mouth and God’s hand.”

One college kid put it this way, “I feel that the power of God is like an ace in my hand that can trump any trick life deals me.”

How to pray…well consider first that all ours prayers must be a petition and not a command.

I read the following many years ago. I may not remember it to the exact word but I remember it well enough to share the gist of it…and the overwhelming truth of it…and praise God for the majesty of it.

He asked for strength that he might achieve; he was made weak that he might obey.

He asked for health that he might do greater things; he was given infirmity that he might do better things.

He asked for riches that he might be happy; he was given poverty that he might be wise.

He asked for power that he might have the praise of men; he was given failure that he might feel the need of God.

He asked for all things that he might enjoy life; he was given life that he might enjoy all things.

Ah yes, to be able to understand the greatness of God you must be willing to give him what little greatness is in you.

"Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; and listen to the cry of my supplications."

Psalm 86: 6

Quote from tomorrow’s blog entitled INTERESTING

“Before the 17th century when the telescope was invented the number of stars were determined. The great Ptolemy gave the number as 1,056, Tycho Brahhe catalogued 777 and Kepler counted 1,005, Today it is agreed that in our own galaxy there are over one hundred billion stars, with probably billions of other galaxies like our own. “
