Would you have peace and calm?  Then rid yourself of resentment.  Stop nursing your grudges. Let them die.  There are so many who write a  set of rules as how others around them should live and what they should do and say.  These other people be they family or friends or strangers on the street never see these rules and do not even know they exist; but still they are held accountable.
And in such a short time, there are tears or certainly sorrow, as the rule maker and the rule breaker never communicate again.
I gave a little tea party this afternoon, at 3. "Twas very small, 3 guests in all - I, myself, and me. Myself ate all the sandwiches while I drank all the tea. "Twas also I who ate the pie and passed the cake to me.
The great evangelist Dwight L. Moody put it well, “God sends no one away empty except those who are full of themselves.”

Quote below from ABRAHAM LINCOLN BOOK

War is always about some men dying and other men talking.  The Civil War was not dissimilar in this respect.  Nor was prejudice reserved only for the blacks.  The prejudice of one side against the other moved easily back and forth across the lines of mortal combat and political battle.  North and South, each having no doubt who was right, made a miracle of peace next to impossible.
And owning slaves was not just limited to those with plantations.  In the South, one family in five had bought themselves one slave or more.  Even the poorest white and freed slave yearned to have a piece of the slavery pie.   Less Northerners feel too sanctimonious for having no slaves, it is worth remembering that this freedom-stealing way of life started out in both regions.  It is just that in the North it proved unprofitable.
