Do
you remember the first time you had just turned old enough to be
outside alone, maybe playing with friends or, as I was want to do
roaming the woods?
Of course, that was a different era – and there are more dangers today than when I was a boy.
But at any rate, do you remember how it was when as you approached your home and saw a light shining through the window?
And how good it felt, you knew you were approaching a place of love, comfort, compassion and concern.
It had grown dark faster than you had planned on and you felt so safe moving toward that warming glow.
That is what the Easter message is, isn’t it? A sweeping away of the darkness of death with the light of eternity.
“In
my father’s house are many mansions” says your Christ and mine and may I
add how good it is to know that in the window of one of those mansions
is a light on inside just for me.
And one of them, you who look upon Christ as your Savior true, has a light on also just for you.
When you awoke this day, did you wash the face of your soul? Washing away doubt. Cleansed therby by the power of prayerful trust.
Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee…”
Courage through Christ; courage for the greater problems…patience for those with lesser pain. Recognizing danger but not allowing ourselves to be overcome by it.
The courage to refuse to yield to discouragement.
To infect the world with courage and make cowardly instincts die. Yea, to speak up for Christ and the Christian way of life is to make that candle in that heavenly window glow more brightly.
Be such a danger to sin that sinners fear to see us come.
