and suggest they do the same

They are changed daily.

If someone has hurt you and then they come to you and say, “Forgive me” what is your response? If you decide to forgive them, you have three options.

Is it, “No problem,” brushing it off as if it were of no consequence.

Or, a more active response, “I accept your forgiveness.”

Or, do you forgive through gritted teeth?

And it does make a difference.

Because, I think that when we spell out our acceptance rather than just allude to it, we are admitting that we too are flawed and have failed sometimes; have hurt another human being.

And at that moment, we are practicing a kind of brotherhood or sisterhood.

Admitting that as humans, we all have to participate in the great adventure of giving forgiveness and accepting it.

Otherwise, if we simply say “No problem” our forgiveness is more like a moral tip than a moral investment.

And if you have chosen the third option… well, this is what so many philosophers and theologians have been trying to teach us, “Anyone who is COMMITTED TO THE FUTURE has to begin the work of MOVING BEYOND THE PAST.” (anonymous)

Begrudgingly forgiving is certainly not the answer.

“I accept your forgiveness” and at that moment we understand for the first time, or once again, those words, “To err is human, to forgive is Divine.”

Mark 11:25
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

Quote from tomorrow’s One A Day blog entitled THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY LIFE

“Thank you for saving my life.”
To which the man replied, “Just be sure it was worth saving.”

BELOW IS A QUOTE FROM A NEW SERIES…

A HEAVENLY CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM(1st in series)

…“in the world of man” identities are stolen all the time. It happened to us two summers ago. Someone reached into my wife’s purse and stole her identity. Went around proving they were her to a world that was more than willing to accept as
fact what was obviously a lie. We straightened it out, but for a short time “the things that man looks at” created an identity crisis.

But with God? No identity theft will ever take place. He knows who we are, the good and the bad and the in-between. And He loves us despite what He sees rather than because. (ON WYRICK’S WRITINGS)
