When
Edison discovered the phonograph when he was trying to invent the light bulb,
that was "Serendipity."
When three men chanced upon a powerful
weed-killer when they were trying to develop a new fertilizer, that was
"Serendipity."
When Columbus stumbled across America when
he was looking for a new route to
Asia, that ws the granddaddy of all "Serendipity."

When Jesus said, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God...and all
these (other) things shall be added to you."...this was what might be
called a "spiritual serendipity."
Life has a way of doing that sort of
thing. Of giving us fortunate
accidents...the giving of one agreeable thing when we were seeking another....And we pray a prayer "And the
words are for one kind of blessing and God sees our need is for yet
another."
Take the seeking of happiness...content-
Take the seeking of happiness...content-
ment...that warm and fuzzy feeling that
we all want and want on a regular basis.
That
which we seek and sometimes do not find...or when we find it...find it where we
would never without God's help have been.
There have been countless books written on
finding Peace of Mind and while there have been the nudge of some good ideas
between the pages...the final part of this journey is best found in Galatians 5:22 "The fruit of
the spirit is peace."
And what does that mean? It means you can't have apples or peaches or
pears or even pomegranates without a tree.
There has to be
roots and a trunk and limbs...a good and stable source...God...24/7.
In the city of Miami there is a man who was
an alcoholic and once called home a jail in New Orleans. He sought God. He found sobriety. He found himself. "Spiritual serendipity."
There is an old
saying, "You must search to find, but not always find what you are
searching for."
Or as we both know...our wish and God's
will may be diametrically opposed. ...which is why it is such a monumental step
to pray and mean "Thy will be done."
Which is why things
fall into place out of chaos it is good for us to remember that for
God it never was chaos.
God it never was chaos.
To God it was destiny.
The French historian Guizet put it this
way, "Man advances in the execution of a Plan which he has not conceived
and of which he is not even aware."
Sometimes the smallest
deed will open the biggest door or shut out the largest opportunity.
A prayer you pray...a curse you utter...a
church service you fail to attend...a sacrifice you make...a selfishness in
your spirit you allow...nothing stops just where you left it...all kind of
things are added or subtracted in life by what you do...and who you are...ALL KIND OF THINGS.
