The results of being bittererness remain for a long long while, the scars both seen and felt by a host of folk.

If love is a joy, then bitterness is a sadness.

And how easily offended are the bitter…always looking for a way to become more offended and therefore more bitter.

I like the ole joke, “No matter how long you nurse a grudge, it won’t get any better.”

What is bitterness? It begins as anger and then when fed over a long period of time moves in to the household of our soul to stay.

Chuck Colson tells the story about a Mrs. Washington who, during a graduation ceremony for inmates completing a Prison Fellowship program, swept to the stage to wrap her arms around a graduating inmate, declaring "this young man is my adopted son." Everyone had tears in their eyes for they knew that this young man was behind bars for the murder of Mrs. Washington's daughter.

The bitter could not would not do that…and to what avail.

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31,32).
