Because Christ was born there is good news of great joy:
about death and life after death - “In my Father’s house are many mansions.” Because Christ was born we know that death is a gateway and not a dead end street.

And about our sins - “I do not condemn you. Go and sin no more.”
about our anxieties – “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you peace.”

Paul said it, and we say it, “It is not I that live but Christ in me.”

Because Christ was born a brutal heathen people called the Druids received the Master’s touch and became Welshmen.

Because Christ was born there are those in the ghettoes of this world who do not murder and commit mayhem. Because Christ was born there are in the marketplaces those whose king is not greed.

There are always wisemen walking past the worst in life, laying the gift of their lives before the Christ child, different than they would have been because Christ was born.

Because Christ was born a man named John Wesley and his brother, Charles, saved England from a bloody revolution.

Any secular historian will tell you that but for the evangelistic crusades of the Wesleys, England would have gone the bloody way of France.

During the most productive period of his life John Wesley traveled on horseback 5,000 miles a years, preached fifteen sermons a week and looked every hostile and petty man square in the face and did not flinch.

In his wide journeying, he carried a Bible, a change of linen, and the implements of his simple diet. So deep was his devotion, so complete his dedication and consecration, that it has been movingly said of him, “When at length he came to die, he left only a knife, a fork, two spoons… and the Methodist Church.”

William James put it well, “Give yourself to something that will outlast you.” And a Christian looked at me the other day and said, “I’ve stopped passing the buck and started bucking the line.”

I have not concealed Your righteousness within my heart; I have proclaimed Your faithfulness and Your salvation. I have not hid away Your steadfast love and Your truth from the great assembly. Psalm 40: 10

A quote below from tomorrow’s ONE A DAY blog entitled PAUL’S CURE FOR ANXIETY

“…if you are having the morning blues look at your watch and allow yourself a quota of ten or fifteen minutes of honest concern. Then say to yourself, “If I need to worry more later on in the day I’ll keep an appointment for some more worry time late in the afternoon.”
