“I’m proud of you.”

I hope someone has said that to you and more than once and how did it feel?

And have you said this to a son or daughter or father or mother or brother or sister or friend or husband or wife?

Or have you felt it but been unable to articulate it? The thought percolating just below the surface but you could not would not give it birth?

And in so doing what have you robbed from that individual who has wanted your vote of approval and you have held it to yourself?

And will you one day when it is too late have to say, “I wish I had. I wish I had.”

The little boy looked at his dad and said, “Let’s play darts and you say ‘wonderful’.”

He is an old man and a tremendous success but what is his fondest memory. It is his father who when he was six years old and trying to help him in the garden said to him, “I couldn’t do this without you. I am so proud of you son.” And they kept on working together and it was a midget moment that was a mighty moment.

More people knew her at the Convention than she would have imagined knew her and thought highly of her. Why? Her boss was effusive in his praise for her work and dedication. It was how he felt and he did not keep it a secret.

And I am sure you can add your own examples because you know what praise can do and what it’s lack can do.

“Praise loudly, blame softly” said one philosopher with a thought that she be engraved across the sky.

If you can’t speak it, write it…certainly don’t hide it.
