Thomas
Edison's manufacturing facilities in West Orange, N.J., were heavily
damaged by fire one night in December, 1914. Edison lost almost $1
million worth of equipment and the record of much of his work. The next
morning, walking about the charred embers of his hopes and dreams, the
67-year-old inventor said: "There is value in disaster. All our mistakes
are burned up. Now we can start anew."
FAILURE IS EASY TO COME BY or learn from or/and both
It isn’t difficult to fail in this adventure called life. All one has to do is follow these daily dozen…
- Spend all your time planning but never doing.
- Try to do three things all at once.
- Don’t keep after a job until it is finished.
- Don’t make a priority list.
- Or…waste your time making one and then conveniently misplacing it.
- Waste the time of day that you are at your best.
- Don’t make deadlines.
- Never do first what you don’t want to do but know you should do or have done.
- Chase other people’s dreams while calling them your own.
- Never ask for help.
- Work hard at being disorganized.
- Read these suggestions and promptly immediately forget them.
It isn’t that failure is always bad. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times and learned from every one of them. He studied them and let them be his teacher. He let them plow his field of thought by turning them over and over in his mind.
