Did you ever stop to think that your getting older is a good deed? After all, you are checking out the territory for those who are younger.
Getting older? We all are…and it’s not all bad…actually, it’s a new land of new beginnings…of learning from old mistakes…the opportunity to fine tune our mistakes so we make less of them and not quite as badly as once we did.
The joy of grading out better in the constant exams of life might be another way of putting it.
Are we wiser…we are indeed…
What is my best advice…well, it may not be my best but it is close…
Ask the question who will attend your funeral? Those who have been your closest friends…and who have you chosen…they reflect who you are…don’t they.
Would you be happier as you grow older?
Give your all to making all around you happier…
The happiest folk of any age are givers…and those who in old age still continue this blessed trait are happiest of all.
And if you have any old hates lying around…rid yourself of them…they are a cancer and you will be old and cantankerous…that is for sure…if you do nothing but harbor old angers and pout about imagined wrongs.
There is nothing as heavy as carrying a grudge.
Be happy wherever you are…if the only way you can be happy is to be in a certain place you already have begun to open the door for future unhappiness.
Reach up toward God as he reaches down to you…and then allow yourself to be led…of such is the peace that passeth understanding found.
I found it in some old notes. I don’t even remember who Robertson McQuilkin is or when I recorded his beautiful philosophy, but I must have liked it…and (in this my 82nd year) still do…"God planned the strength and beauty of youth to be physical. But the strength and beauty of age is spiritual. We gradually lose the strength and beauty that is temporary so we'll be sure to concentrate on the strength and beauty that is forever."
And then there are those classic words of Browning
Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be,The last of life, for which the first was made.
Our times are in His hand,
Who saith: "A whole I planned, Youth shows but half; trust God; see all, nor be afraid."
"Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come."
Psalms 71:18

A quote below from ONE A DAY blog entitled WORRY
“Set aside a day 3 to 7 days from now to worry…then write the worry down…and when that day comes many of things you were worried about will have been solved or you will have learned how to live with it or them.”
