To treat tomorrow as if it is never really coming is a prime example of wisdom in decline.
A man who looked at his tires growing slicker and slicker with the passing of each day. With less tread becoming an increasing problem he knew he should be doing something. He however he did nothing and he did it increasingly well.
Finally tomorrow really came and he found himself in the hospital. His arm was in a cast, his head swathed in bandages, both legs held high and he trying to figure how much a new car would cost.
'Tomorrow' is the excuse of the lazy and refuge of the incompetent," wrote one modern day philosopher.
“When I find it convenient, I will send for you.”
And a Governor by the name of Felix had brought the Apostle Paul before him to be judged for his Christian faith. And in the reading of the story it seems that Paul was well on to persuading Felix to consider Christianity.
But Felix killed the opportunity by pushing it forward until a tomorrow that never came.
“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” James 1:8 In short, procrastination comes out of double mindedness. We can’t make up our mind what to do because we have divided desires. We want to do what is right but we can’t and won’t focus on the center of a bulls eye.
Talk over your problem with someone. Tell them what you plan to do…now you have made a public announcement of what you want and know you should be doing.
Announce your plan to God and more than once. He doesn’t need to hear it more than once but you need to say it more than once.
