If you change, the world around you changes - for better or for worse, but it changes. Daily you shrivel the world or brighten it or bring it darkness. You have such power to transform those tiny portions of it you come in contact with.

You’ve got a mad on toward someone for a good reason? Or no good reason? Well, the Bible in its irritating way of aiming you in the right direction says change your sword into a plowshare, plant seeds rather than rip up roots, be a solace not a petulant pest.

This New Year can be a time when we really examine, from the perspective of last year, how much we are in control and where we have no control at all. I cannot control whether you love me or forgive me, but I can make it easier for the possibility. I cannot control where storms can strike, but I can control how well I am prepared. The list of things I cannot control is long, but so is the list of solutions.

You and I can control our prayer life and our resolution life and our self-improvement life. We can seek God daily or let the Devil help us go to pot.

Oh, yes, in a world where there is much we can’t control, there is certainly much over which we have magnificent control.

Let me give you a scripture to help you in improving your future.

Proverbs 28:13 “he who conceals his sins does not prosper but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
