. Once upon a time, there was an exhausted housewife who dragged herself to the ringing phone and wearily said, “Yes, who is it?”

“Oh, honey,” came back the reply, “you sound so terribly tired.”

“I am,” she said. “The baby spilt the milk…twice. I am so tired I burned a brand new blouse as I ironed it, and when I tried to play a new CD, the player just sat there in silence.”

The mother on the other end was overwhelmed with sympathy, “Oh, honey,” she said, “I’ll be over in half a hour. Meanwhile, just sit down and relax. I’ll get everything done for you and call Harry to come home and help me.”

“Harry,” responded the weary housewife, “Who’s Harry?”

There was a long silence, “Harry? Harry is your husband…isn’t this 665-1212?”

“No, this is 665-1213.”

“Oh my goodness,” said the kindly mother on the other end, “I must have dialed the wrong number.”

There was an even longer silence and then the housewife asked, “Does that mean you’re not coming over?”

You have problems that need resolutions and help with following through with those resolutions? God will come over and stay over and you won’t have to go it alone. With God there is no wrong number, only right commitment and heavenly help galore. So face this New Year with a timeless God who hasn’t given up on you and never will.

“But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand…” Psalm 10:14)
