Did you ever stop to think that the nice thing about apathy is you don't have to exert yourself to show you're sincere about it.

And how can you get rid of apathy? Well, a good place to start would be to make a point of being around people are enthusiastic. Enthusiasm is contagious.

Without enthusiasm no men or women would find or have found an idea or ideal for which they would willingly give their lives. Where there is enthusiasm there is victory. Where there is apathy there is defeat.

If you have it…this gift of enthusiasm…thank God…if you don’t…at this very moment…fall to your knees and pray to find and hold it.

Eugene Ormandy, the famous conductor, once dislocated his shoulder while directing the Philadelphia Orchestra. Now that is enthusiasm.

Are you enthusiastic about your faith? You/we/us should be shouldn’t we.

Filled with enthusiasm for He who died to save us from our sins...who loved us enough to give us the gift of life and then promise us to extend it into eternity.

Enthusiastic because this day you dialed heaven and talked with the everlasting God.

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord” (Rom.12:11)

Eph 5:18-19 “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.”

A quote below from tomorrow's ONE A DAY blog entitled AGING…DO IT RIGHT

…"God planned the strength and beauty of youth to be physical. But the strength and beauty of age is spiritual. We gradually lose the strength and beauty that is temporary so we'll be sure to concentrate on the strength and beauty that is forever."

Toscanni told her that she had the finest voice in the century.

She gave a private concert at the White House for the Roosevelt’s and the King and Queen of England..

She received the Bok Award as the person who had done the most for her home town, Philadelphia.

Then there was that Easter Sunday in Washington when she stood beneath the statue of Lincoln and sung for a crowd of 75,000, which included Cabinet members, Supreme Court Justices and most members of Congress.

And then there was the day she was asked by the world famous concert impresario, Sol Hurok, “Which moment was the greatest moment in your life.”

And when she answered, she answered none of the above. She simply said, “The greatest moment of my life was when I went home and told my mother she wouldn’t have to take in washing anymore.”

To achieve the art of appreciation and thanksgiving is to daily paint on the canvas of life one masterpiece after the other. Nor is it just an art…it definitely is a wisdom

I’ve always tried to show my appreciation to God for his gifts by finding often someone I can show appreciation to for the gift of their friendship to me. How? By my giving them the gift of praise.

Appreciation allows us to put muscles on our joy …both in the giving and receiving.

I decided along time ago that the appreciation of my life feeds the encouragements in my soul and gives them wings. And who does not prefer to fly rather than just walk or stumble.

Psalm 100:4
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him."

BELOW IS A QUOTE FROM A NEW SERIES on this Wyrick’s Writings site entitled STRETCH YOUR SOUL. It began Thursday jan 27 2011.

“If someone were to ask you, “What is my soul? Your soul?” How would you answer? Oh, you could give the dictionary description, “the immaterial essence of an individual life,” but that’s about as satisfactory an answer as feeding on boiled cardboard or fried cellophane.
So then “What is the soul?”

Well, first and foremost, it is… It is like a great ear as it reacts to all it hears from sources here on earth and from the heaven-sent voice of God.

THE WORLD IS NOT OUT TO GET YOU

There are very few people who get up in the morning with the only thing on their mind is to make you unhappy.

There is no doubt that someone will say something you don’t like but they did not plan it.

They were out of sorts and you just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is a fact but some won’t or don’t believe it and their lack of self esteem ruins their lives and those around them.

And after awhile what they thought was true becomes a self fulfilling policy. They drive people away.

What can be done to avoid this?

Well, the following are a few thoughts on the matter…from a source well worth a lifetime of attention.

"But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another…" (1 John 1:7).

We are obligated to not get our feelings hurt too easily. It is a biblical admonishment.

“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Cor. 1:10).

“Do not lift up your horn on high; Do not speak with a stiff neck. For exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another” (Psa. 75:5-7).

Be humble like Christ (Matt. 11:29, Rom. 12:3). Obnoxious, pride and arrogance will set up any of us for a fall (Prov. 16:18).

“Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another” (Rom. 12:10)

“These six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren” (Prov. 6:16-19).

“He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him” (1 John 2:10).

“Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend” (Psa. 15:1-3).

Her clothes were ragged and worn and for yet one more day she was out upon the streets as a beggar.

Those in the
small Swedish village looked down on her, poor and unskilled as she was and complained that it was not right that their streets should be clogged by begging children.

But there was something different about this young girl. She loved to sing and she had a dream of one day becoming a great singer. So she would sing and those passing by would sometimes toss her a copper coin or two.

The days piled one atop the other, days of wind and rain and heat and cold and terrible monotony except for her singing.

And then one day a great musician passing by heard her singing and he knew he had never heard a voice so beautiful. He took the ragged urchin home with him and became her teacher. He showed how to train her glorious voice to its fullest.

And in time, her dream came true…for she became the toast of two continents and everyone then knew her as “The Swedish Nightingale”

And Jenny Lind sang and sang and sang.

Think big! Why not? What advantage is there to thinking small?

Even as a tiny babe you had a dream, even though you could not articulate it. You dreamed that you would be able to walk like all those big people around you…and you stumbled and you staggered and one day you did. And God willing you do not waste this gift by where you let your steps take you.

And you had a dream that you could talk and you said “da dad” and everyone got so excited and you now you do communicate daily and God willing to you do not waste this gift. But are worthy by what you say.

I ran track, cross country to be exact and I early learned that before you get your second wind it seems you can go no futher…but you can, oh yes you can…and how far you can go you could not imagine. And yes, that is life. We are our own worse enemy when we do not seek and capture that second wind.

Did you know that Irving Berlin couldn’t read music?

When he composed his songs, he would hum the melody and a musical secretary would write down the notes. Still, he became one of the greatest songwriters the country has ever known.

Never say can’t…never say won’t.

Adaptation rather than quitting or giving up is always the way to go.

Nor should we put a guarantee on failure rather than working out a way to make things work.

Each one has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.(1 Corinthians 7:7)

This is a true story about a soybean seed.

It was sent to the Rev. Robert H. Schuller from Ansley Mueller, a farmer in Pleasant Plains, Ohio, with the following note,

"I've been teaching the principle, 'Any fool can count the seeds in an apple. Only God can count the apples in one seed.”

And then he continued with a lesson that we all should have close at hand as a reminder to persevere.

"It was 1977, Dr. Schuller, and I lost half my crop. It was a bad, bad year. It was so wet I couldn't get half of it harvested and it didn't develop. So, at the end of the year, in October, I would walk through the fields and try to pick up a bushel here and a piece there.

Then, I saw standing by itself a most extraordinary, unusual looking soybean plant.

I walked over and I was shocked by its size and its good looks.

I went and carefully picked off the pods. There were 202 pods and I opened them and counted out 503 soybeans.

I took them home. I kept them in a pan all winter and they dried out.

The next spring they just seemed special to me.

In 1978 I took those 503 soybeans and I planted them in a little plot behind my house and when October came I harvested 32 pounds!

Thirty-two pounds! I dried them out in the winter and in 1979 I took those thirty-two pounds and I planted them on one acre and when October came, I harvested. I had 2,409 pounds and I planted them on sixty-eight acres, which was all the land I had available.

In October, just a year ago, I harvested twenty-one hundred bushels and cashed it out for fifteen thousand dollars!

Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. (Proverbs 21:5).

Set your goals. Dream your dreams. And then when the wind blows adjust your sails accordingly.

Nor do this without a plan for to have no plan is to have a plan still.

Tomorrow will come whether you plan for it or not but if you plan you will find wonder instead of waste.

Why deal in subtleties when the truth of the matter is that if someone choses Atheism or Agnosticism they look at life and come up with a blank.

Try passing a cemetery, realizing that one-day your own body will lie there and then think to yourself, “Immortality is only a dream.”

It is a foolishness but some choose it.

Einstein said it and said it well “Truth is what stands the test of experience.” I have experienced God more than once in prayer and I will continue to experience Him in special ways at special times and that is enough for me.

I like the way the blind man who had been healed by Jesus reacted. Remember his words as he was being questioned by the leaders of the synagogue as to the character of Jesus.

Remember how he said, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know; but one thing I do know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.”

“Whereas I was blind, now I see.” Do you? See God as wise and personal? A god who knows what to do, and how and when? Do you believe that your wisdom is proof of His greater wisdom, your personality proof that His attachment to man is equally as personal?

Do you believe that whatever you see, feel, touch, ask questions about, he both made and understands? If you do you have sought and found and been given that gift not made with hands but fashioned by your heavenly Father…you are blessed as are those who with a faith such as yours have found the same.

“We live in a sick world, a world with a high fever and Christianity is the only medicine to save it from its delirium. Science can shoot a satellite into space, but it cannot shape a character, psychiatry can free a man from his neurosis but only God can free a man from his sin. A good singer can hold an audience in the palm of his or her hand but only God can grasp their souls.” (Anonymous)

Every man and woman worships something or someone and daily the temptation is to seek goodies from the Devil rather than blessings from the Lord. Seems unbelievable people could make such a wrong choice but some people do.

The next time you pray (and hopefully it is soon and isn’t too far in your past and is a great part of every future moment) allow yourself to be overwhelmed with gratitude that God does not care if you are as stubborn as a mule, as mean as a wild cat or as stupid as an ox. All He cares is that you are his child, and for you He died upon a cross.

It is what prayer is all about? The affirmation that gives God top of the line order in your life and living.

Anyone who cannot or will not accept this is a “wretch.” A wretch in the old Teutonic way because in the ancient language retch” means “wanderer.”

You see, without accepting the Lords love and forgiveness and presence and friendship and fatherhood; such is a wretch, a wanderer, a prodigal son or daughter, a lost sheep…refusing to approach with awe and thanksgiving the throne of grace. And that is one awesome place no one should pass by in the adventure of living.

HOW TO HANDLE GRIEF RATHER THAN LETTING IT HANDLE YOU

There are over 500 stories and commentaries on this blog that began Nov 24, 2009. We'd hope and pray that as you file back through the days many of them will hold special inspiration and motivation for you.

**************************************

It is good to remember that when you weep it is because the object of your grief brought you such joy. And in gaining such an insight whisper the truth of it to your soul.

And do not forget to send your heart on the vehicle of prayer toward heaven for that is where you healing will take place.

There is a throne of grace and it awaits your coming.

And do not hold back your tears for they water your spiritual courage and cause it to grow.

I like the way a thinker whose name I have forgotten put it, “Do not clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.”

And, oh yes, for simple but really profound things to do…
“…prod yourself with the warmth of otherness; make friends and forgive enemies while forgiving what you should never have let yourself be bothered by in the first place.

Print the word FORGIVE across all the avenues of your mind. Anger and grief are a deadly mixture.

Grief increases all emotions and each must be dealt with an overcome.

Watch a funny movie. Read a funny book. Laugh at a funny cartoon. It is a prescription from the book of Proverbs, “The cheerful heart is good medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22)

Grief hurts. It is a knife that cuts and rips and slashes and makes us cry out in terrible pain. It is an agony of the soul. When it comes, we feel out of control.
All of us have experienced it for one reason or the other: death, terrible sickness in our own bodies or the bodies of those we love, divorce, the loss of a career. It comes in different guises, but in some form it always comes to everyone. It always does.

How best then can we deal with this emotional winter storm? This ripping and tearing at our stability. Some weep until there are no more tears left to cry with. Some try to drown their sorrow in a bottle or the impact of a pill. Some try to repress their heartache and, like a kettle with no escape valve, eventually explode.

But some…some take their wounded selves to God. And there, before the compassionate throne of grace, cry out, “Dear Lord, let them debate the psychology of loss in the classroom, trying philosophically to dissect it - I am beyond that. I ask now only for Your special solace.”

And here are a few how’s to think about.

Take a good spiritual inventory. Consider how often you pray and the strength of your prayers.

Do you speak with God only if you have problems? Or do you share your happiness with Him, also?

What do you believe? What do you doubt? And be honest with your answers. Then ask yourself, “What do I feed my soul?” Does your diet of habits and concerns make it sick or well, or loitering with luke-warmness.

And prod yourself with the warmth of otherness; make friends and forgive enemies while forgiving what you should never have let yourself be bothered by in the first place.

Print the word FORGIVE across all the avenues of your mind. Anger and grief are a deadly mixture.

Watch a funny movie. Read a funny book. Laugh at a funny cartoon. It is a prescription from the book of Proverbs, “The cheerful heart is good medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22)

What I am saying is I hope obvious. Go for the gusto in mind, body and spirit and it pays off.

But when you have done all you can, in ever way you can to solve a problem or pain, don’t beat your head bloody and your soul ragged continuing after the impossible.

Learn to finally say and mean, “Thy will be done, Lord. Thy will be done.”

“Do you enjoy visiting friends? More than likely you’re thinking, Preacher, of course, I do.

Now let me ask the other side of the coin - Do you enjoy visiting enemies? No?

Well, I know you must enjoy visiting at least one enemy because, like myself, you probably visit this one quite often. Unfortunately, we all …visit this enemy…whose name is anger.
Some visit anger seldom . Some on a regular basis. And during those visits, some spew and others stew.”

LIGHTEN UP, REJOICE AND BE GLAD

Fifty four years ago, at age sixteen to be exact, I decided to become a minister. Do you know what almost stopped me from following through on that decision?

Some of the ministers I knew who acted as if having fun was a sin. That telling a joke was frivolous. That looking super somber was the way to go. That you couldn’t be a Christian and look like you were enjoying it.

I don’t find that attitude as often these days, but ere now and then I still see it in some preachers. In some officers. In some lay people. And when I do, I seldom say it but I always think it, “Lighten up a little. Have you forgotten the admonition to make a joyful noise unto the Lord?

I’m in good company as I always remind myself that it was the Apostle Paul himself who said, “Rejoice, and again I say, rejoice.” And since we Christians pay a great deal of attention to what Paul has to say on other matters I figure we shouldn’t exclude his comments on daily delight.

Even our Jesus said, “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Nowhere in the Bible does it say, “Blessed are they who frown and fuss.” Nowhere does it say that it is necessary to mentally flagellate yourself until your spiritual bones ache and you have a love affair with misery.

I truly believe that Christ dances with joy when a prodigal come flying home. I take to heart his promise, “Come unto me and I will give you peace.”

I wouldn’t mind finding my name written on a Reader’s Digest Sweepstakes but I love it when I read in the book of Luke, “Rejoice because your name(s) are(is) written in heaven.”

You know, if I were not a Christian and I met some Christians, I am not sure I would choose to be one, because they have forgotten what the star surrounded angels sang on Jesus birth night, “I bring you good news of great joy.” They certainly didn’t sing, “We bring you terrible news and constant complaints that will make your bed a bed of sorrow.”

Finding and keeping a sense of humor isn’t always easy.

There are bosses who indeed seem to have come straight from hell. And people curse at us on the highway.

And everyone has down days when they’re tired of livin’ and scared of dyin’ but I’ve always believed that if I stared at a star and let it give me its message I’d be well on my way toward being a good humor man.

What message?

All around it is darkness but it never notices. It’s too busy making light.

Quote from tomorrow’s One A Day blog entitled HOW TO HANDLE GRIEF RATHER THAN LETTING IT HANDLE YOU

“…prod yourself with the warmth of otherness; make friends and forgive enemies while forgiving what you should never have let yourself be bothered by in the first place. Print the word FORGIVE across all the avenues of your mind. Anger and grief are a deadly mixture.

Watch a funny movie. Read a funny book. Laugh at a funny cartoon. It is a prescription from the book of Proverbs, “The cheerful heart is good medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22)

A QUOTE FROM THE PRAYER SERIES on Wyrick’s Writings

“When you prayed, first did you listen? Some people take the scripture that reads “Speak Lord, for thy servant heareth” and rewrite it to read, “Listen Lord, thy servant speaketh.” (1 Samuel 3:10)

Could what you prayed for be considered a Christian prayer? Remember …if you end your prayer with the words “In Jesus name” you certainly want to have prayed a prayer he would approve.

Was it a prayer you really wanted to be answered, something you really wanted to take place, an improvement in your person you were really committed to following through on. A half hearted prayer is a wasted opportunity.”

“Jealous people poison their own banquet and then eat it” (anonyhmous)

Would you cut off your supply of jealousy? Then love…love the idea that someone else has a blessing you don’t or a talent you don’t. Thank God that you can say such a prayer of thanks and then say it. Be an extraordinary person for there are not that many of them and it might as well be you.
“Be humble or stumble” said Dwight L. Moody.

And I got to thinking that It is not love that is blind but jealousy.

…“in the world of man” identities are stolen all the time. It happened to us two summers ago. Someone reached into my wife’s purse and stole her identity. Went around proving they were her to a world that was more than willing to accept as fact what was obviously a lie.

We straightened it out, but for a short time “the things that man looks at” created an identity crisis.

But with God? No identity theft will ever take place. He knows who we are, the good and the bad and the in-between. And He loves us despite what He sees rather than because. (ON WYRICK’S WRITINGS)

A LIFE WORTH LIVING

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND THIS BLOG TO A FRIEND GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BLOG AND CLICK ON THE ENVELOPE.

The boy had been swept out to sea and would have drowned except that the man had swum out to save him.

Afterwards, the boy said to the man, “Thank you for saving my life.”

To which the man replied, “Just be sure it was worth saving.”

Some may call the response calloused or poorly put…but isn’t that what life is all about. The part we play in this great stage drama, good, bad or indifferent. Kindly or cruel. Selfish or unselfish and the list goes on.

And does not the gift of life cry out for us to say “thank you by” not just in words but how we live, and by how we contribute to making this world a better place?
Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
— Phillipians 2:14-15

THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY LIFE

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND THIS BLOG TO A FRIEND GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BLOG AND CLICK ON THE ENVELOPE.

When people think of the word loyalty and trust do they think of you?

Are you loyal to your boss and the responsibilities he has given you and are you more so just after he has given you a bonus?

“I’m not related to him so what’s with this loyalty bit?” Yes, what is it with this loyalty bit?

Are you loyal to your family, your church, your friends? In that order? Or in what order?

How many are you a friend to and are you a fair weather friend?
“Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you!” And all the disciples said the same.” Matthew 26:35

A TOUCH OF THE DIVINE

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND THIS BLOG TO A FRIEND GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BLOG AND CLICK ON THE ENVELOPE.

If someone has hurt you and then they come to you and say, “Forgive me” what is your response? If you decide to forgive them, you have three options.

Is it, “No problem,” brushing it off as if it were of no consequence.

Or, a more active response, “I accept your forgiveness.”

Or, do you forgive through gritted teeth?

And it does make a difference.

Because, I think that when we spell out our acceptance rather than just allude to it, we are admitting that we too are flawed and have failed sometimes; have hurt another human being.

And at that moment, we are practicing a kind of brotherhood or sisterhood.

Admitting that as humans, we all have to participate in the great adventure of giving forgiveness and accepting it.

Otherwise, if we simply say “No problem” our forgiveness is more like a moral tip than a moral investment.

And if you have chosen the third option… well, this is what so many philosophers and theologians have been trying to teach us, “Anyone who is COMMITTED TO THE FUTURE has to begin the work of MOVING BEYOND THE PAST.” (anonymous)

Begrudgingly forgiving is certainly not the answer.

“I accept your forgiveness” and at that moment we understand for the first time, or once again, those words, “To err is human, to forgive is Divine.”

Mark 11:25
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

HE WAS IN LOVE AND SO…

***********************************

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND THIS BLOG TO A FRIEND GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BLOG AND CLICK ON THE ENVELOPE.

***********************************
Kurtis, the stock boy, was in love.

He was 22 and she was 26 but he didn’t care. He was in love.

He first saw her at checkout register number 4.

He first learned her name by waiting at the punch card clock and then checking her card after she had left.

Her name was Brenda and he was in love.

The next day he waited outside and as she came out he introduced himself and offered her a ride home.

He looked harmless enough and had a nice smile and was a fellow employee so she accepted.

He then asked if he could see her again and she replied that it was impossible.

“Why?” he asked…he was in love and he was persistent and so he asked “Why?”

She explained she had two children and she couldn’t afford a baby sitter.

He offered to pay for the baby sitter.

She seemed unsure as to whether she was making the right decision but she said “Yes.”

Kurtis, the stock boy was happier than he had ever been. But more about Kurtis later.

Saturday night when he knocked on the door she opened it and said, “I’m afraid I can’t go. The baby sitter called and canceled.”

“So” said Kurtis, “We’ll just take the kids.”

So she invited him in and he met one of her two children.

She was cute as a bug in a rug.

Then he met her son who was confined to a wheelchair, paralyzed and with down syndrome.

“I still don’t see why the kids can’t come with us,” he said as if it was the most logical thing in the world.

And she thought of her husband who had deserted her when the going got rough…and all those who were not interested in a woman with two children…one disabled…

And right there on that first night, Kurtis the stock boy, treated the kids as if they were his.

When he needed to go to the rest room…Kurtis just picked him up and carried him there.

And Brenda knew this was the man she wanted to marry…this man who seemed more concerned with making her happy than himself…to whom doing the right thing because it was the right thing seemed so perfectly normal…Kurtis the stock boy.

A year later they were married..

And Kurtis adopted the two kids and today they have two more of their own.

And, oh yes, if you are a football fan you know of Kurtis…because his last name is Warner…Kurt Warner, former outstanding quarterback in the National Football league.

For love to work…it must be more than a word…it must be an unselfish part of one’s character…it is not singing like that Opera singer “Me,Me, Me” but “You, You, You.”

True love is more concerned with giving than getting and the truth is so obvious it is missed by millions.

It is an old cliché’ but it is too good not to quote again (and forgive me for a slight rewrite), “Unselfish love doesn’t just make the world go round…it makes the ride worthwhile.”

Unselfish love lifts kindness to a new level. It is a strength that can move mountains and I think perhaps make the angels in heaven sing a special heavenly song.

A bell is no bell 'til you ring it,
A song is no song 'til you sing it,
And love in your heart
Wasn’t put there to stay -
Love isn’t love
'Til you give it away.
~Oscar Hammerstein, Sound of Music,

And, on yes, it is very important in a good marriage to have unselfish love as part of your nuture and nature…but it is also very important in a good life to have unselfish love as part of your nuture and nature.

1 Corinthians 13:4–8a
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails

WHAT IS COURAGE?

************************************

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND THIS BLOG TO A FRIEND GO TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BLOG AND CLICK ON THE ENVELOPE.

***********************************

It is an old tale often told but perhaps you have not heard of it, the story of the man who was bragging about how he had cut off the tail of a man eating lion with his pocket knife but neglected to say that someone before him had cut off the lion’s head.

WHAT IS COURAGE?

The University was conducting a test. 10 University students were placed in a room and on a board in front of them were lines of varying length.

They were told to raise their hands when the instructor pointed to the longest line.
But nine of the students had been instructed ahead of time to raise their hand when the instructor pointed to the second longest line.

One student had not been told.

Then when the instructor pointed to the second longest line the nine students who had been pre-instructed raised their hands.

The un-instructed student did not at first raise his hand…that is until he looked around and saw that everyone else had raised their hands.

He knew they were wrong but three out of four times with a number of different groups the un-instructed student would eventually raise his hand too.

WHAT IS COURAGE?

John Wesley said, “Give me a hundred men who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, and I will shake the world. I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; and such alone will overthrow the kingdom of Satan and build up the Kingdom of God on earth.”

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

I have always believed that courage is doing what you are afraid of…otherwise you are not being courageous.
